Pekin Hospital League’s 19th Annual Golf Classic

(March 22, 2010) - The Pekin Hospital League’s 19th Annual Golf Classic will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010, at Pekin Country Club.  The entry fee is $125 per person and includes green fees, cart, lunch, beverages, and a buffet dinner. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. shot-gun start. The format will be a four person scramble. The right hole-in-one could net the winner $5,000 along with chances to win other bonus prizes. Mulligans and skins will be available. Proceeds from the golf classic will go toward the Pekin Hospital League’s special projects.  Entry forms are available online at www.pekinhospital.org, or by calling (309) 353-0559. Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
