ANNOUNCES WINNERS of CASAblanca – DANCING WITH THE LOCAL STARS

 

The 16th Annual CASAblanca Dancing with the Local Stars was a fun-filled evening of entertainment to raise awareness of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Tenth Judicial Circuit and its mission. It featured seven local celebrities partnered with dance instructors, and a Mystery Team, all vying for two awards. The People's Choice Award was presented to the dancers who accumulated the most votes based on fundraising, while the Critics' Choice award was presented to the dancers who accumulated the most votes based on the judges' scores and audience votes. The winners were:

 

People's Choice Award

Tim Crane of Caterpillar & Stacy Benjatka-Robins, dance instructor

 

Critics' Choice Award

Ryan Pierson of RSM & Lexi Zellmer, dance instructor

In appreciation of extraordinary service and devotion to CASA of the Tenth Judicial Circuit, the Judy Morris Memorial Kappa Alpha Theta CASA Community Award was presented to Hilltop Wealth Management of Raymond James.

 

We extend our gratitude to the night’s Judges: Kelly Giraudo (Butler, Giraudo & Meister, PC), Miguel Ramirez, MD (OSF Orthopedics), Micah Spayer, Mike Unes (UnityPoint Health – Central Illinois Foundation), and "Mystery Judge" Norm McGill. Its existence is based on the belief that every child has the right to a safe and permanent home allowing them the chance to reach their full potential in life. The organization has been in existence since 2005, serving children who have experienced abuse or neglect. CASA is supported by Heart of Illinois United Way, VCVA IL Attorney General, Illinois Court Appointed Special Advocates, and generous donors. CASA is a Member of the National CASA/GAL Association.
