Illinois Central College Offers Summer Sports Camps

            Illinois Central College will extend its strong athletic tradition to elementary and high school-aged athletes this summer with a variety of sports camps aimed at providing instruction and individual attention, along with fun competitions, to help improve skills. The College’s veteran coaches will offer high-caliber camps in girls’ & boys’ basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball.  Participants also can choose from specialty camps for volleyball and girls’ basketball advanced skills.
  • Girls All Skills Basketball Camps  
    • 4th – 8th Grade, June 10 – 13 from 9 a.m. – Noon; $100
  • Karrie Redeker Girls’ Basketball Advanced Skills’ Camp
o   High  School Guard Camp – June 17 from 9 a.m. – Noon (1 morning only); $30
o   High School Post Camp – June 17 from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. (1 afternoon only); $30
  • Boys All Skills Basketball Camp
    • 5th – 8th Grade, June 18 – 21 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; $165
  • Volleyball All Skills Camps
    • 4th – 6th Grade, June 24 – 27 from 9 a.m. – Noon; $100
    • 7th – 8th Grade, June 24 – 27 from 1 – 4 p.m.; $100
    • 9th – 12th Grade, June 10 – 13 from 1 – 4 p.m.; $100
  • Sue Sinclair’s Specialty Volleyball Camps for 7th – 12th Grade (choose one or more)
    • Setting Camp: June 1 – 2, 9 a.m. – Noon; $60
    • Hitting and Blocking: June 1 – 2, 1 – 4 p.m.; $60
    • Serve Receive & Defense: June 1 – 2, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (break for meal); $60
  • Softball Hitting and Fielding Camps
    • 3rd – 5th Grade, June 18 – 20, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; $75
    • 6th – 8th Grade, June 18 – 20, 1 – 4 p.m.; $75
  • Baseball Camp Session 1:   Ages 8 to 18, June 3 – 6  (choose one or both)
    • All Skills Camp: 8:30 to 11 a.m.; $80
    • Pitching/Catching: 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.; $65
  • Baseball Camp Session 2:   Ages 8 to 14,  July 29 – August 1  (chose one or both)
    • All Skills Camp: 8:30 to 11 a.m.; $80
    • Pitching/Catching: 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.; $65

            All camps will be hosted at the CougarPlex on the ICC East Peoria Campus.

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters.
