NEW EXHIBITS SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN ICC ART GALLERIES AUGUST 23

Two new exhibits open on August 23 at the Illinois Central College art galleries, located on the East Peoria Campus.
An exhibit of ceramics by Matt Ziemke opens in Gallery 336B, located in the Academic Building.
In addition, an exhibit of photography by Jody Brown opens in the ICC Performing Arts Center Gallery, located in the lobby of the facility. A reception for the artist is scheduled for August 29 from 5 to 7 pm in the gallery. Both exhibits will be on display through noon on September 22.
Matt Ziemke
Ziemke earned a bachelor degree in fine arts from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2007 and a master’s degree in fine arts from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 2011. Ziemke currently is a full-time lecturer at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He has exhibited work in numerous group and solo exhibitions across the country, including venues at the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, The Clay Studio of Missoula, Carbondale Clay Center, Santa Fe Clay, The Clay Studio of Philadelphia, Vox Populi and Pottery Northwest. Ziemke was an artist in residence at The Clay Studio of Philadelphia from 2011 to 2013. In 2015, he was named as an emerging artist by Ceramics Monthly.
Jody Brown
Brown grew up in Illinois in the towns of Astoria and Tremont and graduated from Tremont High School. She is the founder of The Human Touch, a massage therapy practice she has owned and operated since 1997. She has worked with Bradley University athletes as a neuromuscular therapist for 18 years. Brown loves to travel and has visited 19 countries on five continents. A few years ago, she began taking pictures while travelling. She has a passion for photographing indigenous people while on her travels. Brown said she finds traveling through the countryside often to be more interesting than city life and is fascinated watching real people do everyday things. Brown has a collage of photos from her travels in her office, and this show includes several of those photographs.
Hours of operation for Gallery 336B are Monday through Thursday, from 9 am to 5 pm and Friday from 9 am to noon. The Performing Arts Center Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm, and Friday from 9:30 am to noon. Operation of the galleries varies with ICC’s holidays and breaks. To confirm a gallery will be open at a particular time, call the ICC Arts, Communication and Behavioral Sciences Department at (309) 694-5113. The Performing Arts Center Gallery also is accessible when the Performing Arts Center is open for public events.
The exhibits are presented by the ICC Art Program and the Arts at ICC. The Arts at ICC has a rich history of enhancing the arts community and expanding education beyond the classroom. Arts at ICC presents more than 500 exhibits, performances, lectures, rehearsals, meetings, master classes, clinics, seminars, receptions, orientations, forums, auditions and tournaments annually.
