UnityPoint Health – Pekin Recognizes Employees and Volunteers

UnityPoint Health – Pekin recently honored employees and volunteers at two events that celebrate outstanding service and dedication.

The 58th Annual Employee Awards Banquet recognized 89 employees with 1,115 combined years of service. Dr. John Lovell was given special recognition upon his retirement after 39 years of treating patients and serving the community.

Trust Builder Awards, given for demonstrating organizational values, were presented to Dr. Gordon Cross, Dr. Benjamin Hanshaw, Dr. Michael Honan, Dr. Nani Moazzam, Dr. Volkan Sumer, Vicki Dirks, Wendy Hess, Georgiana Howard, Jenny Rose, Cory Sharp and Dee Shawgo. Department honorees were the emergency department, facilities management, food services, imaging and materials management.

More than 130 volunteers were honored at the 2017 Volunteer Luncheon. Recognition was given for 20,256 combined hours donated over the last year to courier services, lobby and information desk services, pharmacy, radiology and surgical waiting. The volunteer with the most hours donated over the past year was Beulah Snyder with 1,174 total hours.

“Our dedicated employees and volunteers help us to serve the community and provide personal, compassionate care each day. We cannot thank them enough for their ongoing commitment to our mission of service,” said Crystal Elliott, Vice President of Human Resources. “We also wish Dr. Lovell the very best of luck with his retirement. He has been a pillar in our medical community for almost 40 years.”
