Sheridan Road to Close for Summer

The City of Pekin will close Sheridan Road to through traffic between Parkway Drive and Veterans Drive beginning on June 2nd.  The closure is needed to replace the bridge over Lick Creek.

Local traffic will be allowed on Sheridan Road up to the last residence on either side of Lick Creek.  The road will remain closed for approximately three months.

The current bridge over Lick Creek is structurally deficient. The new bridge will include the addition of a 6-foot sidewalk on the north side.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
