GOODWILL WELCOMES NEW VETERANS HOME MANAGER

Goodwill of Central Illinois has named Mollie Franke as their new Housing Manager of the General Wayne A. Downing Home for Veterans.
Franke is a retired United States Army Lieutenant Colonel. She served 21 years after being recruited from Virginia Tech where she received a bachelor’s degree in urban planning. Franke served as a logistics officer whose job was to determine what the troops needed, before they needed it, describing her job as “backwards planning.”
Before retiring, Franke earned a master’s degree from the University of Louisville. A self-described “Air Force brat,” she grew up in many different states, but now resides in Peoria with her husband and two children. “In the military you serve something bigger than yourself.
I wanted to work for Goodwill to show that they are much more than just retail stores,”
said Franke.
“We are so fortunate to have someone of Mollie’s caliber managing our veterans’ home,” said Patty Fuchs, Goodwill’s President & CEO. “She knows firsthand the needs of our veterans and the struggles they sometimes face. Her heart is truly in the work that she does.”
Goodwill of Central Illinois is a non-profit organization that provides job training, career and vocational services to veterans and individuals and families who are working to better their lives. Goodwill also operates a youth mentoring program for youth ages 12 to 17. For more information on retail stores, donation centers and vocational services, visit the website at www.goodwillpeo.org or call the Administrative Offices at (309) 682-1113.
