Fusion Building Open House

 Pekin Main Street will co-host an open house with the Driven Church at the Fusion Building on Thursday, October 24, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The event will celebrate the Lt. Governor's Excellence Award in Downtown Revitalization and Design. 

Pekin Main Street was presented the award at the recent Illinois Main Street Conference.  Pekin Main Street proudly shares this award with Pastor Dave Carrington and the members of Driven Church for their time, talent and treasure in the successful and beautiful renovation of this building.

The public is invited to celebrate this preservation success story at an open house on Thursday, October 24 from 4:00-6:00 pm.  You can tour the building and see the great things done in this building.  Not only was history preserved, but the church is moving forward creating their own story.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
