Goodwill Opens New Donation Center in Peoria

Goodwill of Central Illinois will officially open its newest donation center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, November 11 at 9:00 a.m. The donation center is located at 9915 N. Knoxville at the Prairie Lakes Crossing Shopping Center in Peoria.

“We currently have stores that accept donations on Pioneer Parkway and War Memorial in Peoria. We also have a donation center at the intersection of Sheridan and Lake. Considering the increase in the population of northern Peoria, this was the next logical location for a Goodwill donation center,” said Patty Fuchs, President and CEO of Goodwill of Central Illinois.

“We wanted to make donating to Goodwill as easy as possible for the people of the northern Peoria and Dunlap areas,” says Jim Lynch, Goodwill’s Director of Development. “Donations are the life-blood of our organization. Without the incredible generosity of the people of Peoria and central Illinois, we wouldn’t be able to fund the free programs that we offer to help people improve their lives.”

During the grand opening weekend from November 11 – 13, there will be giveaways to the first 150 donors. Donors will also have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes simply for donating to Goodwill during the grand opening weekend. The Goodwill Donation Center at Prairie Lakes Crossing is currently open and accepting donations seven days a week: Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Goodwill offers free programs in basic computer use, Microsoft Office products, job readiness training and forklift operation certification. Goodwill also serves homeless veterans with job readiness training and provides assistance in finding employment while running the Goodwill General Wayne A. Downing Home for Veterans. GoodGuides, a mentoring program for at-risk youth, is also offered by Goodwill.
