Pekin Hospital Welcomes Director of Surgical Services

Pekin Hospital and Progressive Health Systems are pleased to announce Sue Silcox as Director of Surgical Services.
Silcox brings more than 35 years of medical leadership experience to Pekin Hospital. Previously she served as Interim Director of Surgical Services for Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA, Director of Surgical Services for Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, KY, and Senior Director of Surgical Services at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospital in Twin Falls, ID.
Silcox began her nursing career at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX, where she served for 20 years. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix and is active in the Association of Operation Room Nurses.

Part of Progressive Health Systems, Pekin Hospital is a 107-bed medical center serving Tazewell, Peoria and Mason Counties since 1913. For more information visit pekinhospital.org.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
