Know Before You Go with IDOT'S Winter Road Conditions Map



SPRINGFIELD - With more snow in the forecast this weekend and the official start of winter coming soon, the Illinois Department of Transportation reminds you to visit www.gettingaroundillinois.com for updated Illinois road conditions before heading out.
  
Available on your computer and mobile device by clicking the "Winter Road Conditions" tab, this handy map provides an overview of how the roads are looking throughout the state. The map receives more than two million visitors and nearly five million page views each winter.
  
"Be ready before going out on your travels this winter," said Illinois Transportation Secretary Randy Blankenhorn. "Our winter road conditions map gives you an idea of what to expect. As a reminder, it's always best to stay off the roads if travel isn't absolutely necessary during a winter storm."
  
The map is updated 24/7 during winter storms. Click here to see how we gather the data for it. Shared on news broadcasts, social media and elsewhere, this map is a great resource during the winter months.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
