Pekin Hospital Auxiliary Names Officers

The Pekin Hospital Auxiliary is pleased to announce its officers for 2016. Officers serving one-year terms are Barbara George, President; Marcella Harms, 1st Vice President; Janet Lawson, 2nd Vice President; Elaine Bacon, Treasurer; Reta Swain, Secretary and Nancy German, Nominating Committee.

The Auxiliary’s 130 volunteers serve as good will ambassadors for Pekin Hospital. Areas of service include the information desk, radiology and surgical waiting areas, laboratory, in-house pharmacy and hospital deliveries. Auxiliary members also provide assistance by escorting wheelchair patients to waiting vehicles. Teen volunteers provide after-school and weekend service to hospital patients.

In 2015, Pekin Hospital Auxiliary volunteers contributed more than 19,000 hours of service. To learn more about the volunteer program, call 309-353-0445.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
