Chamber Hires New Office Assistant

Brittney Beal was recently hired as the office assistant for the Chamber. Spending her childhood in places such as California, Arizona, Florida, and Georgia allowed her to be introduced to the true meaning of cold weather after moving to Pekin in 2006. In 2010 she graduated from Pekin Community High School and currently attends Illinois Central College. While her major is yet to be decided, she aspires to one day serve on the mission field. Working as the Chambers office assistant, Brittney will now work on member communications. She is excited about being part of the Chamber staff and looks forward to serving its members!

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
