Christmas on Court Returns to Downtown Pekin on December 2nd

 

Pekin, IL- A quintessential Christmas experience is returning to Downtown Pekin! Christmas on Court will be held on Friday, December 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Court Street.

Businesses in the downtown area will be open for shopping as well as pop-up market vendors for a diverse holiday shopping experience. The event will also include live entertainment from local artists.

Santa is returning with a free photo opportunity at the Santa House.  

 Christmas on Court is hosted by the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the City of Pekin Tourism Committee, Discover Pekin, and Discover Peoria. This family event emphasizes supporting a “shop small” initiative with the Pekin community.

#ShopLocal365 is a regional partnership encouraging community members to shop locally during the holidays and year-round. With each community in the Greater Peoria region offering unique specialty retailers, the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce invites residents and guests from the region to use Christmas on Court as an opportunity to visit and shop Pekin.

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters.
