Puttin' On Pekin Breakfast

The next Puttin’ on Pekin breakfast planned by the Members First Committee of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce, will be on Friday, February 14th  at 6:45am and will be held at Rosati’s Pizza located at 137a Radio City Drive in North Pekin. This month’s speaker will be JD Dalfonso, President/CEO of the Peoria Area Convention & Visitors Bureau discussing regional partnerships and activities.

The every-other-month breakfasts provide an opportunity for business people to network while learning about positive events in the Pekin area.  Besides great food, other features of the breakfast include a 50/25/25 drawing, Spotlight on Business, Blue Ribbon and Sunshine Award presentations, door prize drawings with prizes provided by local businesses, one-minute reminders, and “Meet the New Chamber Member.”

            The cost of the breakfast is $25 per person with a $5 discount for reservations made before noon on Wednesday, February 12th and an additional $5 discount for Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce members. Reservations can be made by email at info@pekinchamber.com or by calling the Chamber at 346-2106 where you can pay by credit card.  Chamber members may make payment at the door with cash or checks payable in the exact amount to the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce; reservations by individuals/businesses not part of the chamber must be paid in advance.

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters.
