Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce Names New Executive Director

The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Amy Whiting-McCoy will serve as the new Executive Director of the organization.

Whiting-McCoy was selected for the position following a local search.  Chamber Board President Dan Pfeifer said the search committee reviewed a pool of well-qualified candidates.

"We had several very talented individuals interested in the position," said Pfeifer. "Amy demonstrated great leadership skills, the ability to build strong relationships within the region, and an enthusiastic passion for the Pekin community.”

Whiting-McCoy is eager to get started in her new role. "I am honored to be named Executive Director of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce,” said Whiting-McCoy.  “I want to help foster and promote a vibrant business environment that will help our businesses prosper.”

Whiting-McCoy has held several positions in her career spanning over 20 years in the insurance industry, including agency ownership and management.  She is a graduate of Western Illinois University and has been recognized for her community service and leadership many times, including Forty Leaders Under 40; 25 Women in Leadership; Pekin YWCA Women in Leadership - Community Service Award; St. Jude Memphis to Peoria Runner of the Year; and, most recently, the St. Jude Central Illinois Region Volunteer of the Year. She is a past-president of the Kiwanis Club of Pekin, has served on the Pekin Marigold Festival committee since 2005, and was chairwoman of the 2019 festival.

"We are excited to welcome Amy to the Chamber," said Pfeifer. "Under her leadership we expect the Chamber will continue to be a successful advocate for our businesses and the community for years to come."

Whiting-McCoy will assume her new role on March 9.  Retiring executive director Bill Fleming will remain with the Chamber through the end of March.
