GOODWILL OPENS NEW DONATION CENTER IN PEORIA

Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois will hold a grand opening for its newest attended donation center on Thursday, December 12 at 10:00 A.M. It is located at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie, between Old Chicago and Cold Stone Creamery. The address is 7720 N. Grand Prairie Drive, Peoria. The center will offer both walk in and drive up donation drop off. The site officially opened on December 1, 2019.
“We want to make donating as quick and easy as possible,” said Don Johnson, Goodwill president and CEO. “We understand that people have busy lives, but they still want to support their community. We make it easy to drive up, drop off, and know that you did something special for the people of Central Illinois.”
The new location will also hold weekly prize drawings for anyone who donates through January 31, 2020.
Goodwill’s free programs are possible through the sale of your donated items. Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois serves 21 counties within Central Illinois. Goodwill offers employment services, veterans’ support services, operates a veterans’ home and supplies youth mentoring. It also employs more than 300 people throughout Central Illinois. Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
