ILLINOIS CENTRAL COLLEGE THEATRE SEASON OPENS WITH SIX PERFORMANCES OF THE UNDERPANTS SEPT. 29

            The Illinois Central College Theatre Program 2017-18 season of four shows gets underway with a wild satire from comedian Steve Martin, The Underpants, opening September 29 for six performances in the main stage theatre of the ICC Performing Arts Center, located on the East Peoria Campus.
Written by Carl Sternheim and adapted by Steve Martin, The Underpants is a play about a conservative couple, Louise and Theo Markes, whose reputation is on the line when Louise’s underpants are exposed in a public place.
The show takes place September 29 through October 8. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays begin at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 pm.
This wild satire, which is adapted from a classic German play, follows Louise and Theo Markes, a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when Louise's bloomers fall down in public. Though she pulls them up quickly, Theo thinks the incident will cost him his job as a government clerk. Louise's momentary display does not result in the scandal Theo fears, but it does attract two infatuated men, each of whom wants to rent the spare room in the Markes' home. Oblivious of their amorous objectives, Theo splits the room between them, happy to collect rent from both the foppish poet and the whiny hypochondriac.
Cast members in The Underpants, their roles and their hometowns include: Nathanael Anderson of Peoria as the King; Darrell Kimbro of Metamora as Louise; Noah Lane of Trivoli as Theo; Dylan McDonell of Washburn as Versati; Creighton Peacock of Bartonville as Cohen; Max Rutschke of Peoria as Klinglehoff; and Adyson TerMaat of Bartonville as Gertrude.
Tim Wyman directs the ICC production. The show is rated PG for mild adult situations and is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
Tickets cost $8 for the general public and $6 for students and senior citizens.
The show is the first of four in the 2017-18 ICC theatre season. Other shows include:
·        Bullets for Broadway by David Landau, an audience participation “whodunit” dinner theatre-style show with music, food….and murder! There will be four Friday and Saturday dinner theatre performances. Nine performances between November 10-19 in the studio theatre. Rated G for all audiences.
·        And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank by Jim Still, a multimedia theatrical experience about the world of Anne Frank. Six performances between February 23-March 4 in the mainstage theatre. Rated PG for intense material.
·        The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, a dark comedy where amazing Irish storytelling takes the audience into the dream of a young boy who wants to be in the movies. Seven performances between April 13-22 in the studio theatre. Rated R for adult language.

Tickets for all shows other than the dinner theatre performances of Bullets for Broadway cost $8 for the general public and $6 for students and senior citizens. The four dinner theatre performances of Bullets for Broadway begin at 6:30 pm on only the Fridays and Saturdays during the run of this show. All tickets to the dinner theatre performances cost $20 per person and include a buffet-style meal. Tickets for the four dinner theatre performances must be purchased at least seven days in advance. Season tickets cost $28 for the general public and $20 for students and senior citizens. Season ticket purchasers who choose to attend a dinner theatre performance of Bullets for Broadway must pay an additional $15 per person for the dinner.

The theatre season is presented by the Arts at ICC, which has a rich history of enhancing the arts community and expanding education beyond the classroom. Arts at ICC presents more than 500 exhibits, performances, lectures, rehearsals, meetings, master classes, clinics, seminars, receptions, orientations, forums, auditions and tournaments annually.

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters.
