PEKIN PARK DISTRICT OFFERS SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

Summer is near and Pekin Park District is here to help!  We offer camps for children ages 5 – 13 at three different camps.  You will love these camps designed to keep your children’s imaginations fueled while they are outdoors and in and around the Parks.  Swim at Dragon Land; play Putt Putt golf; go on field trips and scavenger hunts; experience sports, arts and crafts; build forts in the woods; explore nature; and, much more for one low price!

The Summer Camp at the Arena is for children ages 5 – 10 years and is open Monday – Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. beginning May 25, 2016 (with the exception of May 30 and July 4).

The Salvation Army Camp is a neighborhood camp for children ages 5 – 10 years at the Salvation Army Facilities on Derby Street and is open Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (with the exception of May 30 and July 4).

Camp Soldwedel is for children ages 10 – 13 years and is open Monday – Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. beginning May 25, 2016 (with the exception of May 30 and July 4).

We also offer Sunshine Camp, a summer camp for individuals with special needs, through the Illinois Valley Special Recreation Association.  www.irvsra.org.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
