Pekin Hospital to Begin Construction on New Surgery Waiting Area

Pekin Hospital will start construction on a new surgery waiting area beginning April 6, 2015. The approximately 3,500-square-foot space will be conveniently located on the second floor of the hospital to accommodate family members and visitors of surgery patients.

As a community-focused hospital, we continue to work tirelessly to make the patient experience as accessible and comfortable as possible,” said Bob Haley, Chief Executive Officer of Pekin Hospital. “The new surgery waiting area will be five times larger than our current space, creating a more convenient place for visiting family members and loved ones.”

The new space will include a view of the Mineral Springs Park Lagoon and will be located closer to the hospital’s cafeteria to allow easy access to nutritious meals and snacks. The project is scheduled for completion in October of 2015.

“We’re excited to start this project, which will provide a quiet and private environment to help address the needs of our patients’ families,” said Haley. “The next time you drive or walk by the hospital, you’ll see a lot of activity from the 14th Street side.”

Hospital parking lot number eight will be closed during construction. Patients who may be impacted will receive instructions and updates during their pre-registration process. The $1.1 million dollar project is part of Pekin Hospital’s ongoing commitment to upgrading its facilities and infrastructure.
