ISMS President visits Hopedale’s White Fence Estate
Illinois
State Medical Society President William McDade, M.D., Ph.D., an
anesthesiologist and Deputy Provost at
the University of Chicago visited Tazewell County Medical Society on Tuesday,
March 31, 2015. The meeting and dinner
to welcome Dr. McDade was held at Hopedale Medical Complex’s newly opened White
Fence Estate. Tazewell County
physicians, medical students and guests welcomed the native Chicagoan. Dr. McDade toured the Hopedale Hospital,
Wellness Center, and Hopedale Commons and was very impressed with the advanced
level of medical care provided in such a rural setting.
As ISMS
President, Dr. McDade visits each county medical society in the state of
Illinois to address the current legislative issues of medicine at the state and
national level. His presentation,
“Thriving in Medicine: ISMS Insights for
Illinois Doctors” high-lighted the important changes in laws and the many ways
ISMS has helped defend the medical practice of physicians and the health of Illinois
citizens in such a challenging environment of
burdensome governmental regulations.
Dr. McDade emphasized the importance of the county medical society and the involvement of physicians at the
local level, as this is the only unified voice of physicians
within the State of Illinois. The ISMS House of Delegates meeting will meet
in April, where resolutions are decided upon and sent to the state legislature
for recommendations.
In closing,
a gift basket of locally produced items representing Tazewell County was
presented to Dr. McDade by Tazewell County Medical Society president Lesley Brinkman-Mosiman, M.D.
