GOODWILL TO HOST COMMUNITY RESOURCE FAIR

Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois, will host a Community Resource Fair on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. The event will be held at Goodwill Commons, 2319 E. War Memorial Drive, Peoria, from 9:00 a.m. through 12:30 p.m.
Attendees can learn about resource services available in Central Illinois. Organizations
specializing in many areas will be available to answer questions and explain how these
services can be utilized. Areas include: employment resources, veteran/military
resources, health and mental health resources, housing, addiction services, financial
assistance and college admission.
“Everyone needs assistance at some point and this is a great way for our community to
find out where they can go for a little help,” said Patty Fuchs, Goodwill President and
CEO. “We are happy to partner with other social service agencies and spread the word
about what Central Illinois has to offer.”

Goodwill of Central Illinois operates eleven stores and two donation centers throughout a
21 county territory. Revenues from the sale of donated items support the Vocational

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
