American Water Charitable Foundation Provides Illinois Triad organizations with Public Safety Grants

The American Water Charitable Foundation is providing Illinois Triad organizations $12,000 in public safety grants.
“Triad is dedicated to keeping senior citizens safe and improving their quality of life,” said Illinois American Water President Karla Olson Teasley. “We want to recognize them and through these grants, assist in providing some of the resources they need.”

A total of $12,000 will be distributed evenly among Triad organizations including:

- Tazewell County Triad
- Naperville & Lisle Township Triad
- Whiteside County Senior Center
- Peoria County Triad
- Champaign County Triad SALT Council
- DuPage County SALT Council

The National Association of Triads is a partnership of three organizations—law enforcement, older adults and community groups. The purpose of Triad is to promote older adult safety and to reduce the fear of crime that older adults often experience.  Some examples of Triad projects that may be supported by American Water Charitable Foundation safety grants include ID jewelry for individuals with Alzheimer's or Dementia, File for Life materials, neighborhood safety watches and the development of community groups.  The National Association of Triads assists local communities in forming their own councils/SALT organizations (Senior And Law Enforcement Together).

Established in 2010 the American Water Charitable Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides a formal way to demonstrate American Water’s ongoing commitment to being a good neighbor, citizen, and contributor to the communities where the company and its employees live, work and operate. The Foundation also helps support American Water employee identified nonprofit endeavors.
