SOUTH SIDE TRUST & SAVINGS BANK ANNOUNCES PROMOTION

South Side Trust & Savings Bank, a subsidiary of Mid Illinois Bancorp, Inc., at its December 2013 Board Meeting, announced the promotion of Dwayne A. Banks to Assistant Vice President.
Banks has worked in the banking industry for 33 years, serving as the manager of the Northpoint Facility at South Side Bank for the past 16 years.  He attended Peoria High School, and is a member of 1977 State Championship Basketball Team.  Banks went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Western Illinois University.    He was inducted into the Western Illinois University Hall of Fame in 2002.  Banks is Secretary of South Side Office of Concern Board of Directors and Treasurer of The Pier NFP Board of Directors.  He is married to wife, Demetra, and has one son, Dwayne Jr., and two daughters, Danielle and Dreyanna.
South Side Trust & Savings Bank, a locally owned financial institution since 1922, has $669 million in assets and serves the tri-county area with 12 full service locations in Peoria, East Peoria, West Peoria, Bartonville, Chillicothe, Washington, and Pekin.  South Side Bank owns Mid Illinois Insurance Services, Inc. located at 1524 W. Glen Avenue in Peoria.

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters.
