Gateway: The Impact of Addiction on Families and Loved Ones

Addiction is a family disease
Substance use disorders impact more than just the person with the addiction. Much like with other diseases, addiction can take a toll on the people closest to the person struggling with it. In some cases, addiction can destroy relationships with loved ones and cause health, financial and legal problems. Even with the many consequences, addiction can feel impossible to break because it is a disease of the brain.

At Gateway Foundation, we understand how addiction affects the lives of those closest to the patient, which is why our programs take families and loved ones into consideration.

Through educational programming, families and loved ones can learn about addiction, family dynamics and ways to build a supportive relationship for lasting recovery. We also offer weekly visitation, recovery support education and family counseling sessions to ensure each person touched by addiction has the greatest chance of a successful outcome.

Addiction is isolating for those struggling with it and their loved ones, but Gateway Foundation is here to make sure no one has to overcome it alone. Our skilled staff specialize in
substance use treatment for men, women, adolescents and patients with co-occurring substance use disorders
