Lane closures set June 19 on Adams Street

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that lane closures on southbound Adams Street (U.S. 24) at Interstate 474 will begin Tuesday, June 19, weather permitting.

The closures are necessary so that crews can install shielding on the underside of the overpass. When work is complete in the southbound lanes, it will shift to the northbound lanes and is expected to be complete by June 26.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
