Pekin Main Street Offers Facebook Training

Facebook and other social media sites are KEY to effective business marketing - if you aren't using them correctly or aren't using them at all - you are missing out on a very easy and effective marketing tool!!! With the holidays coming up, you don't want to miss any opportunities. Whether you are a retail establishment or a service oriented business, Facebook is a great tool.

Pekin Main Street will offer one more Facebook 101 training on Wednesday, October 16 at 5:00pm in the Pekin Main Street Office.  They will go over the difference between setting up a personal account versus a business account (which is what you want) and practical tips and how tos as to using Facebook for your business.

If you are well versed in Facebook or are ready to step it up a notch, Pekin Main Street will offer Facebook 201 on Thursday, October 24 at 5:00 in the Pekin Main Street office.  They will go over advanced topics and how to work with Facebook analytics to make your posts ad social media marketing more effective.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
