Women will also enjoy mini spa sessions, health screenings, giveaways, massages, jewelry, purses, hairstyling, pizza samples, and lots of other fun activities. Although the primary goal of Spirit Girls’ Night Out programs are to educate women about making well informed decisions about their health, it is the action steps that follow that are the real reward. In 2011, 43 percent of attendees made an appointment with a healthcare provider as a result of something that they learned. “These events allow women to come together in a trusted healthcare environment for information presented in an empowering format,” said Tanya Abreu, President and National Program Director, Spirit of Women Hospital Network. “When you present this education in a dazzling way, women leave ready to activate change that can positively impact their lives and the lives of their families.”

Spirit Girls’ Night Out is in its seventh year and gaining momentum with over 75 hospitals in cities all over the US working toward the same goal – inspiring and empowering women to be okay with who they are and encourage action over their health and the health of their families.

Health education, health screenings, roundtable discussions with female physicians, and fun activities will be woven throughout the three-hour evening to emphasize the importance of these health issues. This “don’t miss” event will be held at the Pekin Moose Lodge on Thursday, October 11 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Spirit Girls’ Night Out is organized and hosted by Pekin Hospital, a member of the Spirit of Women Hospital Network, with support provided by Good Housekeeping magazine and Novo Nordisk.
