Goodwill Named Top 25 Most Inspiring Companies

Goodwill Industries International (GII) has been named one of America’s Top 25 Most Inspiring Companies by Forbes Magazine.

A study performed by Atlanta consulting firm, Performance Inspired, Inc., asked more than two thousand consumers to name five inspirational companies, GII ranked number twenty three. Terry Barber, chief inspiration officer for Performance Inspired said, “Consumers are really appreciative of the Goodwill retail stores and the perceived feel-good value they are bringing to local communities.”

“This is a tremendous honor for Goodwill Industries,” said Patty Fuchs, Goodwill of Central Illinois President & CEO. “The business model that Goodwill Industries has established over the years allows us to offer our customers a quality product at very reasonable prices. Locally, we have branded our stores with a bright, appealing look that is fun and easy to maneuver. The sale of donated items allows us to provide free services to veterans, area youth and those who are working to better their lives. The people we serve, the folks who donate and our shoppers are the true inspiration.”

Goodwill of Central Illinois operates nine stores and three donation centers throughout a 21 county territory. Revenues from the sale of donated items support the Vocational Services programs of Goodwill. Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
