Celebrate the season at Pekin Main Street and ACT’s Holiday Dinner Theatre

Pekin Main Street and Artistic Community Theatre of Pekin will be presenting a dinner show of the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” on Saturday, December 1 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 715 N. 11th Street in Pekin. Doors open at 6:00 and dinner will be served at 6:30.

The timeless message of “A Christmas Carol” that love and friendship are more important than money will certainly warm the hearts of the audience. The production will be directed by Dennis Peacock and stars several veteran ACT performers.

Tickets are $25/person or $200 for a table of 8. All tickets include dinner and dessert. Tickets are available at the Pekin Main Street office, located at 111 S. Capitol Street, in Pekin City Hall, by calling 353-3100 or by emailing mainstreet@grics.net. All proceeds from the show will benefit Pekin Main Street and Artistic Community Theatre.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
