Night Owl Spoken Word Poetry Night- January 26 (9-11p)
This even is BRAND NEW to Speakeasy Art Center. It will be hosted by Chris Keller. So bring your bodies, minds, hearts, and words to the Speakeasy Art Center. The event will happen every last Wednesday of the month. So let loose with all you have to say!! BTW...BYOB!!! No charge!

Opening Reception for Jacob Grant- Friday February 4th (6-830pm)
Jacob Grant is a central Illinois ceramicist. He graduated with a Masters degree of Fine Art from Bradley University. He has taught at The Peoria Art Guild, Illinois Central College, Bradley University and Robert Morris College. His work has been widely shown in Chicago, IL., Rend Lake, IL., Peoria Heights, IL., and St. Louis, MO.

Grant states, "I am curious about exploration of formal qualities of the vessel and volumetric sculptural objects. Inter-relational ties between functional and sculptural art through researching basic aspects of form are the primary concerns in my work. The vessels and volumetric sculptures I create examine the line between pragmatism and pure sculpture. "

Please join us in supporting our local artist, Jacob Grant, on this evening. It's free and light refreshments will be provided.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
