IDOT Road Work

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announces that construction of safety shoulders on IL 29 from Christmas Tree Rd. to south of Green Valley is underway and will continue for approximately two weeks.  Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures. Flaggers will be controlling traffic. Travel delays are anticipated.  Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.

Also, IDOT announces that the passing (left) lanes of northbound and southbound IL 29 in North Pekin near Marquette Heights will be closed for median removal and replacement operations for approximately the next two weeks.  This work will include nighttime lane closures.  Upcoming work will include curb removal and replacement, intersection and signal improvements, milling, and resurfacing. The work is expected to extend into the spring of 2011.

Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
