Tazewell County Genealogical and Historical Society will present their eighth annual Harvest Time for Genealogists

The Tazewell County Genealogical and Historical Society will present their eighth annual Harvest Time for Genealogists on Saturday October 9, 2010, from 9 am to 3 pm. at the society’s Erlicher Library, 719 N Eleventh St, Pekin IL. Registration begins at 8:00 am.

Speaker at this year’s event will be Jeffrey Bockman. Mr. Bockman is a Genealogy Lecturer & Writer. He was a contributing editor for the former Everton's Genealogical Helper and a feature writer for the former Heritage Quest Magazine. His articles have also appeared in various other publications. He is the author of Give Your Family A Gift That Money Can't Buy, a book that encourages people to record and preserve their family's history. His topics for the day will include a look at passenger lists, immigration records, emigration records, printed indexes and other sources to find the ships that carried your ancestors; he will explore a wide variety of primary and secondary sources to determine when a person was born and who were their parents if a birth certificate is not available or can't be found; what’s hiding in the 1900 -1930 census records; and he will give us an overview of both physical and online maps including Historical Atlases.

Registration is $30 per person, which includes all lectures, lecture handouts, refreshments, and lunch. Walk in registrations will be accepted, but cannot be guaranteed an immediate copy of the course handouts if demand exceeds supply. Register online at www.tcghs.org, stop in at our library at 719 N Eleventh Street and register in person. Contact the library at (309) 477-3044 for more information.
