EDC Survey of Professioanl and Technical Companies

The Economic Development Council for Central Illinois has established a Professional and Technical Strategy Group to help retain and grow the professional and technical industry sector within the Peoria metropolitan statistical area, which consists of Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, and Stark Counties.

The Professional and Technical Strategy Group works with the goals of:
  • Increasing awareness of the professional/technical service capabilities in the region
  • Assessing the service needs within area businesses
  • Facilitating educational programs on outsourcing
  • Facilitating the development and growth of local professional and technical service businesses

For more information on the Economic Development Council for Central Illinois please visit http://www.edc.centralillinois.org/ As a professional and/or technical firm within the MSA, we seek your input on retention and growth issues facing your industry sector in order to begin to address these issues. We have a few questions which will take 5-7 minutes to complete and we ask that you please complete all questions. We have partnered with the Chambers of Commerce from East Peoria, Morton, Pekin, Peoria to ask for your input. All results will be tabulated by EDC for Central IL and only aggregate results will be shared with participants and partners. Participants can receive the results by providing your email address (optional) at the end of the questions.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
