ILLINOIS CENTRAL COLLEGE OFFERS “QUICKSTART” ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 5

Illinois Central College is offering an expedited way for potential students to get through the steps of enrolling all in one day with its new QuickStart program on Saturday, August 5 from 9 am to 1 pm on the ICC East Peoria Campus. No appointment is necessary. Free parking is available in Lots A and B on the East Peoria Campus, as well as the Visitors Lot. During QuickStart, participants can complete an ICC application and have it processed immediately, take placement testing, fill out financial aid paperwork, set up a payment plan, and enroll for classes. Fall semester classes begin on Monday, August 21. New student advising sessions also are available by appointment by calling (309) 694-5281 to check availability and schedule an appointment. Advisors are available to help students who wish to enroll, but additional follow-up may be required. UnityPoint Pekin Hospital has joined UnityPoint Methodist and UnityPoint Proctor hospitals by offering wound care as a specific sub specialty. January 1st, 2017 UnityPoint Pekin Hospital opened a wound clinic specifically designed to see all classes and stages of wounds. In a partnership with Healogics Corporation, the clinic brings years of experience in wound care to the community. Healogics is strictly dedicated to healing wounds with the latest wound care techniques including hyperbaric medicine and has offered these benefits to communities around the US for 22 years. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and also brings many years of wound care, surgical and vascular experience to the wound clinic. The clinic has enjoyed great success in the first six months and hopes to continue and improve for years to come.

The Center for Prevention of Abuse Accepts $20,000 Donation for Prevention Education Services from CEFCU

The Center for Prevention of Abuse has received a $20,000 donation from CEFCU to help fund the continuance of Prevention Education programming in Peoria Public Schools (PPS). The gift is an annual donation to provide violence prevention education to students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth in Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties. “We are very pleased to accept this donation from CEFCU and thankful for their continued support of our prevention education program,” said Carol Merna, Executive Director of The Center for Prevention of Abuse. “This funding allows us to continue our important work in the classroom connecting with young people and teaching them how to build healthy personal relationships, contributing toward a safer and healthier community.” The Center for Prevention of Abuse provides prevention education programming in 105 schools and reaches about 30,000 students each year in the Peoria Area. “Since 1993, CEFCU has been proud to support The Cent...

The Center for Prevention of Abuse Receives Prestigious Grant to Provide Services to Victims of Human Trafficking

– The Center for Prevention of Abuse now offers services for victims of human trafficking in Central Illinois. Heartland Human Care Services (HHCS) is partnering with The Center for Prevention of Abuse through an award with the Office of Victims of Crime (OVC) to provide a comprehensive array of services for all human trafficking victims – both sex and labor – identified within the Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties.                 The history of an organization that gives artists with special needs performance opportunities will be brought to life through words and music on stage at Illinois Central College.                 The Penguin Players, a collaboration involving Illinois Central College and the Penguin Project, presents three performances of Once Upon a Penguin: A Musical History of the Penguin Project on August 4, 5 and 6 in the ICC Performing Arts Center, located on the East Peoria Campus.
