Local Retirement Planning Seminar to Help Navigate the Complexities of Medicare

 Savant Capital Management, a nationally-recognized, fee-only wealth management firm located in Peoria, will host “Are You Prepared for Retirement,” a seminar that will discuss the role Medicare can play when planning for retirement. There are several event dates to choose from, with the first one on Thursday, July 19 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fondulac District Library, 400 Richland Street in East Peoria.

The event will feature Savant’s Peoria Market Manager and Financial Advisor Daryl Dagit, Financial Advisor Donovan Sanchez, and Teresa Hagen with Hagen Benefit Services. Attendees will gather valuable information about retirement planning and tips that will help navigate the intricacies of Medicare to work towards a successful retirement.

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. The seminar is also scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 21, and Thursday, Sept. 20 (times and locations vary). To register for a seminar or for more information call 309-693-0300 or email ppost-freeman@savantcapital.com.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
