Alzheimer’s Association to Host Kentucky Derby Party May 5th

Be a part of the most exciting two minutes in sports at the annual Alzheimer's Association Kentucky Derby Party to be held this Saturday, May 5, at the Country Club of Peoria.

The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with Kentucky style hors d’oeuvres and mint juleps. The race is set to begin at 5:15 p.m.  Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a photo shoot with a horse in the Winner’s Circle.  Kentucky style cuisine and beverages will be a main attraction as attendees watch the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby on big screen TVs.  Attendees will have the opportunity to place charity wagers on their favorite horse to win prizes out of the “Winner’s Feedbag.”

Proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer's Association - Central Illinois Chapter.

“This is a very fun event and it raises funds for a cause that is very dear to my heart,” says Kim Sanders, Kentucky Derby Chairperson and Central Illinois Chapter board member. “My father suffers from the disease and I don’t want my daughter to have to be affected by it anymore than she already is. By raising funds and disease awareness we can work together to find a cure for this fatal disease.”

A Silent Auction is scheduled 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. followed by a Live Auction at 7:00 p.m. Participants can bid on a variety of auction items, including a crazy cupcake party for kids, hot air balloon flight for two, wine tasting party, Greek dinner for 12, vacation getaways, sporting and sailing packages, and more. A prize will also be awarded to the lady wearing The Best Kentucky Derby Hat.

Tickets can be purchased at the Peoria Office for $75.  Individuals can add the Derby Bar sampler plus souvenir glass for $25.  For more information or reservations contact Development Director Jamie Messmore at 309-681-1100. Information is also available at the agency website at www.alz.org/illinoiscentral.

The fundraiser is sponsored by OSF Saint Francis Medical Center; 1, 2, 3 You’N Me; Keith L. Kinsey, CFP, Financial Advisor Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, and Bard Optical.
