ILLINOIS CENTRAL COLLEGE HOSTS CAMPUS VISIT DAYS THIS FALL

Illinois Central College will host free Campus Visit Days this fall to provide potential students information on programs and degree options.   Students will learn about various career paths, such as earning certificates to start a career right away, earning two-year Associate degrees, and taking classes to transfer to a four-year college or university.  They can also learn about financial assistance, student activities, athletics, on-campus housing, and how to enroll.
ICC groups programs by “Career Clusters” on visit days.  This categorizes career fields sharing common traits and allows students exposure to similar careers. 
The fall ICC Campus Visit Days are from 9:00 A.M. to Noon with an 8:30 A.M. check-in:
·         Health Science – September 27, Peoria Campus
·         Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – October 4, East Peoria Campus
·         Arts, Audio/Visual Technology and Communications – October 11, East Peoria Campus
·         Undecided – October 14, East Peoria Campus
·         Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources; Architecture and Construction; Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics – October 25, East Peoria Campus
·         Education and Training; Government and Public Administration; Human Services – November 1,
East Peoria Campus
·         Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security – November 8, Peoria Campus
·         Hospitality and Tourism – November 15, Peoria Campus
·         Business Management and Administration; Finance; Information Technology – December 6,
East Peoria Campus

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
