Illinois Central College Hosting Power Show and Automotive Open House on October 8

                Illinois Central College will host a Power Show and Automotive Open House on Tuesday, October 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the ICC East Peoria Campus.  The open house provides potential students the opportunity to speak with faculty and representatives from the automotive service industry about high-demand careers in the automotive service area.  

                The open house will include presentations by industry professionals and discussion of opportunities in the automotive field, technology demonstrations, hands-on activities and contests, door prizes and giveaways, and more.  New, classic, and racing vehicles also will be on display during the show.

                “ICC is proud to be hosting the Power Show and Automotive Open House for high school students in our region for 44 years now.  It is a long-standing, fun event, showcasing the exciting, high-demand careers available in the auto industry,” said Interim Dean of Agricultural and Industrial Technologies Steve Flinn.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
