Murray Baker Lane Closure Begins July 12th
The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that daytime lane closures will begin Thursday, July 12, on the eastbound side of the Murray Baker Bridge.
The closures are necessary for routine bridge washing and will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with one lane open at all times. They are expected to last about three to five days on the eastbound side of Interstate 74, weather permitting, with work switching to the westbound side, where the same work time and lane closures will apply.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
