GOODWILL WELCOMES NEW DIRECTOR OF RETAIL

Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois has announced Susan Walker as the organization’s new Director of Retail.
An Illinois State University graduate, Susan spent much of her career with Walgreens. While with the drug store corporation, she managed 5 locations and was a regional top talent acquisition lead. In addition, she was a district recruiter, placing individuals in leadership and pharmacy roles.
Susan also possesses experience as a financial professional associate for Prudential. In that capacity she developed insurance and investment programs, while serving a base
of clients.
“Susan brings a fresh perspective to our stores,” said Don Johnson, Goodwill of Central Illinois’ President & CEO. “Susan’s vast experience will allow us to continue and improve the quality shopping experience that our customers expect and deserve.”
Goodwill’s free programs are possible through the sale of your donated items. Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois serves 21 counties within Central Illinois. Goodwill offers employment services, veterans’ support services, operates a veterans’ home and employs more than 300 people.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
