Dragon Pride on May 1st

Make plans to attend Dragon Pride on May 1st from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Hawkins Gym in Pekin Community High School.  Dragon Pride is the annual exhibition for PCHS students to display their class projects from all academic areas.  The event is open to the public and is is an open house format so visitors are free to explore the exhibits at their own pace.

Dragon Pride is a way for students to show their skills that they have learned over the year in a particular class. Dragon Pride features different types of exhibits from the Career and Technical Education department to the Math department. Students will be present at many of the exhibits to explain their project and what their class is about.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
