CIRCLE LogoThe Central Illinois Regional Chamber Legislative Effort (CIRCLE) has two upcoming events for chamber members. 

On Monday, April 29th, you and your guests are invited to join the Canton, East Peoria, Chillicothe, Morton, Pekin, Peoria, Peoria Heights, and Washington Chambers for our annual CIRCLE Legislative Reception.

This event gives the Central Illinois business community an opportunity to talk directly with area legislators about issues that impact their companies.  Enjoy appetizers and a cash bar while visiting with legislators and identifying other business people with common interests.  You can download a registration for more information.  
 
On May 9th CIRCLE is going to Springfield.  You can join representatives from 16 chambers of commerce to learn about and advocate for a common agenda with the Illinois General Assembly. There is power in numbers! 
 
We will arrange meetings with legislators and key committee staff members that relate to each of our issues (Public Pension Reform, Minimum Wage, Timely Payment of Bills, and Workers Compensation Reform). Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
