ICPR Family Practice continues to treat the whole person with the introduction of Sumer Wellness. Specializing in total body health - inside and out, Sumer Wellness is Pekin’s newest medically based cosmetic wellness center that focuses on skin health.

A Variety of Products and Services
Offering a variety of products and services for the face and body such as chemical peel treatments, microdermabrasion, Botox® cosmetic, Juvederm® dermal filler, PCA Skin® Care and Jane Iredale® Cosmetics, Sumer Wellness is a place for women and men to learn more about products that are good for their skin, improve problematic skin, and find treatments for conditions caused by acne or even chemotherapy.  Sumer Wellness also hopes to increase skin cancer awareness with its complexion analysis scanner.

"My goal in creating Sumer Wellness is to offer services that would be complementary to the family practice," Merry Sumer, PA-C, the main provider of Sumer Wellness services, said. "The focus of Sumer Wellness is to offer treatments beneficial to skin health. These treatments will also help people improve their skin condition and cosmetic appearance and - in some aspects - reduce the risk for skin cancer. My passion behind all of this is to educate patients about the complete package of facial skin care from their daily regimen at home to customized medical grade skin care treatments and even makeup that provides skin care benefits."

Appointments Available
Sumer Wellness offers convenient day and evening hours for patients. Appointments can be scheduled Monday and Wednesday, 9 am to 5 pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 am to 6 pm; and Fridays, 9 to noon. All services are provided by Sumer and her highly trained staff. Gift cards are also available.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
