South Side Trust & Savings Bank Opens

The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome South Side Trust & Savings Bank to Pekin.  The new facility is located at 3200 Veterans Drive.  Pekin Mayor Laurie Barra assisted South Side Pekin Facility Manager Chip Hill with the ribbon cutting.  Prior to the ribbon cutting, Hill, Barra and Dave Cochran, President & CEO of South Side Trust and Savings Bank all made comments.  The full-service branch offers a complete line of financial products and services, including checking and savings accounts, CDs, money markets, personal and business lending, and much more.  The branch houses 315 safe deposit boxes and presents a complete range of Brokerage and Trust Services.  It features three drive-up teller lanes, two of which are equipped with two-way television monitors, as well as a drive-up ATM on the property.  The Pekin Branch is open Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The telephone number is (309) 353-4833.  You can see more pictures from this and other chamber events at http://picasaweb.google.com/PekinChamber

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
