Pekin Public Library Announces Veteran's History Project

In celebration of Veteran’s Day, the Pekin Public Library is participating in the Library of Congress’s Veteran’s History Project.

For this project, volunteers will interview and record veterans' first-person accounts of military service in World War I, World War II, the wars in Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf and conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.  The library will then submit these written accounts to the Library of Congress.

The library will be holding oral history interviews on Wednesday, November 10 and Friday, November 12.  Any veteran who would like to participate should make an appointment for their interview by calling the Reference Desk at 347-7111, ext. 225.   For more information on this project through the Library of Congress, please visit www.local.gov/vets.
