In conjunction with their Business Showcase, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Power Breakfast on Wednesday, March 24th, from 7:30am-9:00am at the Peoria Civic Center. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney is the corporate sponsor of the breakfast that features Kyle Sexton, a highly-rated speaker and marketing strategist specializing in small businesses and membership organizations. In 2008, he created www.ChamberPeople.com, the largest online social network dedicated to chambers of commerce. He has been recognized with numerous awards and national media acclaim. Kyle's innovations have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Business On Main from MSN, and www.smSmallBiz.com from Smart Money. Kyle is the author of two books. Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
