Pekin Riding Club Seeks Sponsors

The Pekin Riding Club, Inc. is a non-profit organization that will be sixty-six (66) years old in 2010. We provide the community with a safe place for family-oriented, horse-related activities, educational opportunities, functions, and shows from April to October each year. We have over twenty events per year and host additional events, such as, 4-H shows, clinics, and the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA). We will be expanding our “host” opportunities this year to bring more shows and opportunities to our central Illinois arenas.

We would like to ask your support to continue to provide horse-related activities for our members, families and our community. We offer different sponsorship packages that will fit most budgets. Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
