CIty of Pekin Awarded $3 Million Infrastructure Grant

Pekin, Illinois – The City of Pekin recently applied for federal funding through a Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) program from our area’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC).  This morning, TCRPC awarded Pekin $3,000,000 to be applied to the third section of Court Street from 8th Street to Stadium Drive, slated for construction in 2025. This funding will not affect the second section of the Court Street project, between Valle Vista and Stadium Drive, that is scheduled to begin in 2023. The Court Street revitalization project in total is estimated at $30 million and runs from downtown Pekin to Veterans Drive.  This latest grant is in addition to the $23,719,000 already granted or allocated for the Court Street project, representing approximately 90% of its funding. The City would like to sincerely thank those staff members that helped pursue this grant opportunity and bring much needed funding to our community.

For more information on Court Street improvements, please visit the city’s website or contact the City officials listed above.
