Public Works Director Justin Reeise

Pekin, IL- The City of Pekin announces the hiring of a new Public Works Director: Justin Reeise. Reeise comes to the City of Pekin with 15 years experience in municipal infrastructure. Most recently, Justin Reeise served as the Municipal Section Manager for the Peoria area with Farnsworth Group. 

Director Reeise has professional work experience with the City of Pekin since 2007 on a range of projects, specifically including engineering on the City’s wastewater treatment plant upgrades. As Public Works Director, Reeise will oversee the Public Works divisions of the City including; streets and sewers, wastewater treatment, solid waste, public properties, fleet maintenance, municipal airport and engineering.  Through these divisions, Reeise will manage the planning, coordination, and implementation of infrastructure improvements, construction projects, and the repair and maintenance of streets, sewers, sewage treatment, and City properties.  

Reeise states, “I’m excited to join the City of Pekin as the new Public Works Director, where I look forward to bringing my experience and passion for municipal infrastructure to serve the City.  Throughout my 15 year municipal engineering career, I have worked with numerous communities throughout central Illinois, and I look forward to being able to support my hometown of Pekin in this new role.  I am lucky to be joining a strong Public Works staff and aim to deliver successful infrastructure improvements and maintenance projects to the City residents.”

Local High School to Win a SMART Board in 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters.
